The Guild Member Interview – Emma Wynne

Emma has been working at The Guild since July as a content assistant for Digital DNA. She graduated from Bath Spa University in June with a 1st class degree in Publishing with Creative Writing. She is now moving on to work in London for Cure International where she will be a fundraising assistant. I asked her about her time at The Guild and what she will be doing in the future.

How did you find out about the Job for Digital DNA?

I’d just graduated and had no idea what I was going to do. One of my tutors from uni told me about the job. I just went for a meeting and we went from there.

What made you want to work for Cure International?

I wanted to get into the charity sector. I’d heard about the job and applied but unfortunately I didn’t get it. It’s really hard to get into the sector so I was ringing around to try get some volunteer work. I rang Cure International to ask for volunteer work, the lady really liked that I showed initiative and offered me an interview for a full time job. It turned out that the girl who originally got the job took a different role somewhere else. The interview went great and I got the job!

What’s been your favourite thing you’ve worked on at The Guild?

It’s just a really nice environment to work. I’ve really enjoyed working as part of our little team.

How have you found working in a coworking environment compared to working at home or working at university?

I love it! It’s very different. Most people treat it as a 9-5 day; this helps me to get into that routine and stay focused. I find it inspiring to work around other professionals, it makes me feel like I actually have a job and I’m actually doing something for a good reason. As a student you might just be doing a project for the sake of doing something.

When you were a child what did you dream of doing when you grew up?

I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do. I just wanted to do what my friends did. I don’t remember anything in particular. I liked art and I was really in ballet.

What is your claim to fame?

Helen who I work with, her boyfriend’s cousin is Miranda Hart! I love Miranda…

Favourite song to work to?

I enjoy listening to Ludovico Einaud at the moment

How do you have your coffee?

I don’t like coffee. I prefer hot chocolate and peppermint tea.

What are the BIG things you are going to do in 2014?

Move to London for the first time. I’m excited and scared all at the same time.
