On 1st July 2014 Canada was officially 147 years old – who knew! In order to celebrate this landmark birthday here at the Guild we decided to hold our very own Canadian Birthday Party!! Sponsored by Triptoes the Birthday was a huge success with members getting to try out a variety of Canadian treats including Canadian themed cupcake, pancakes with REAL maple syrup and my favourite A&W Root Beer.

Some of the members enjoyed a game of NHL ‘14 Xbox penalty shoot out, with the overall winner being perm. desk member Chris Dawson, who was thrilled to have won “I’m really happy, I’ve never won anything on xbox before”. (Chris is on the far right)

About 20 of our members assembled in our re-branded Canadian front room – balloons and flags galore, there was also a very inspiring Canadian playlist playing in the back members workspace featuring hits from Arcade Fire, Bryan Adams and Neil Young.

We were so inspired by the success of the day that we’ve decided to hold a US Independence Day party on Friday so keep an eye out for more pics soon.

Information on our sponsor Triptoes

Triptoes Canada is a travel company that provides hand-picked accommodation and adventurous activities for families wanting to experience an inspiring and memorable holiday to Canada.

Triptoes was founded by Guild member Jessica Boston, a parent of two young children who loves travel, adventure and unwinding with her family. In planning her family holiday, however, Jessica found finding places to stay that provided the independence that she wanted for her family, and also reflected the needs of travelling with children; an often arduous and stressful task. So, the seeds of Triptoes were sown….

Having spent several enjoyable years working in the Canada Travel Industry for a leading independent tour operator as well as being Canadian by nationality, it was natural for Jessica to put her passion for travel to Canada and practical experience to good use. She started Triptoes so that other families could experience everything that Canada offers for their family holiday.

Jessica has travelled extensively around Canada researching holidays and has lived in Victoria – British Columbia, Peterborough – Ontario and most recently in Toronto with her children. The family, and Triptoes, are now based in Bath, UK.
