Today we had an extra special Cake Wednesday as we were joined by Ruth Keily who works at Bath based charity Mentoring Plus. Ruth came to talk to the hub members over a slice of cake about the charity, its aims and how they could become involved.

Ruth was joined by Guild member Vicky Edwards who recently became a mentor for the charity herself, she explained to the group about what activities she has organised and how after just a few visits the mother of the girl she mentors remarked at the huge difference it was making to the girls life and attitude at home. “They [Mentoring Plus] help young people who need a bit of guidance and support by matching them with a local volunteer. This gives all kinds of benefits to the individual and community from reducing youth crime to increasing young people’s involvement in education, maximising their potential and helping them to be happy.”

It was great to find out the work this organisation is doing in the area and to also find out more about how we can help. If you would like to volunteer is a mentor you can do so by registering here.
